On May 11, at Pudong Binjiang Square, the final day of the 2025 Archery World Cup Shanghai stage took place. Competing in the recurve mixed team final for the first time, Team China lost 2–6 to South Korea and earned a valuable silver medal. In the women’s recurve team gold medal match, China again fell 2–6 to South Korea, missing out on defending their title. In total, China claimed two silver medals at the Shanghai stage.
In the morning, the women’s recurve team final featured Chinese archers Li Jiamao, Zhu Jingyi, and Huang Yuwei, who lost the first set 53–56. They bounced back to draw the next two sets against the South Korean team—composed of Lim Sihyun, An San, and Kang Chae-young—but still trailed 2–4. In the decisive fourth set, China scored 52 points, while South Korea continued their consistent performance with 57 points, securing a 6–2 victory. Chinese Taipei won the bronze in this event.
In the recurve mixed team final, South Korea fielded world No. 2 male archer Kim Woojin and world No. 1 female archer Lim Sihyun. The duo were last year’s champions in Shanghai and gold medalists at the Paris Olympics. Representing China, Wang Yan and Li Jiamao lost the opening set but adjusted their strategy, letting Wang shoot first in the second set, which they won. In the third set, China narrowly lost 38–39. In the critical final set, Wang Yan, who had previously shot five 10s in the match, faltered with his final arrow scoring just 8, leading to a 36–37 loss. China ultimately fell 2–6 and took the silver medal, while Turkey secured the bronze.
This was South Korea’s first appearance in this year’s World Cup. After sweeping all five gold medals in recurve events at the Paris Olympics, they once again claimed all five golds in Shanghai.
In the compound events, which will officially be part of the Los Angeles Olympics, the mixed team gold was won by the UK. The women’s team title went to Mexico, the men’s team gold to India. The individual titles were claimed by Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands (men) and Jyothi Surekha Vennam of India (women).
