What is a PU letter? On March 26, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Immigration Bureau of the People's Republic of China issued an announcement that from 0:00 on March 28, 2020, entry of foreigners with valid Chinese visas and residence permits will be suspended. Foreigners who already hold a valid work permit but cannot enter the country to apply for extension of residence permit due to the epidemic, their family members, and foreigners who need to enter for short-term business purposes should apply for a PU invitation letter issued by the provincial people's government. What is a PU letter?

1.Having a close record of business dealings with foreign countries;

2.Hire the company to operate normally

Validity period of PU Letter

The validity period of PU Letter is generally 3 months, and it is invalid after expiration. After the PU letter expires, if foreigners still need to come to China, they need to re-apply for it.

Function of PU Letter 

Foreigners holding the PU letter can apply for the corresponding visa to China at the local Chinese embassy abroad. (Note: If you want to apply for the Z visa, in addition to the PU letter, you also need to submit the "Work Permit Notice". PU Letter Application Procedures

1.The inviting unit prepares relevant application materials according to the requirements of the Foreign Affairs Office

2.The inviting unit submits the application materials, and then waits for the pre-review and acceptance of the relevant foreign affairs department.

3.After the materials are approved by the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, the inviting unit must first submit the foreign affairs system platform online, then go to the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office to seal the materials, and finally send the sealed materials to the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office for final review.

4.After the approval, the inviting unit can go to the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office to get the original "PU Letter"
