June 23 marks Olympic Day. In response to the call of the International Olympic Committee, various regions around the world organize diverse activities around this date to promote Olympic culture and values.
On June 21, cities across China — including Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Ningbo, Zhangjiakou, Chengde, Haiyang, Chongyi, Daixian, Fanshi, Zhijin, and Sangzhi — hosted a variety of events such as Olympic Day Fun Runs and Olympic Culture Camps. Localities integrated their unique characteristics into the celebrations, holding fun runs, trail runs, hikes, fitness walks, and activities related to the “2025 Sports Science Popularization Tour in China” to raise public health awareness.
The main event in Beijing took place in the Olympic Central Area, where Olympic champions Ma Long and Zhang Yufei joined 500 fitness enthusiasts for a health run and cultural fair. They encouraged the public to embrace scientific and active exercise, embodying the theme of this year’s event — “Let’s Move Together.”
Zhang Yufei stated that as a national team athlete, she strives to uphold the Olympic motto “Faster, Higher, Stronger — Together” both on and off the field, and hopes to inspire more people to participate in and enjoy sports, promoting the spirit of Chinese athletics. Ma Long expressed that he truly felt the public’s enthusiasm for sports. With the national fitness initiative becoming a key national strategy, more people are realizing the strong link between physical exercise and personal well-being — a crucial foundation for building a strong sporting nation.

In Nanjing, themed exhibitions, parent-child activities, and fitness walking routes engaged the public in exercise while promoting fun and health. Students at the martial arts arena of Nanjing Sport Institute visited the exhibition and shared their sports knowledge and experiences. The Wutaishan Gymnasium in Jiangsu Province was packed with people, creating a vibrant sporting atmosphere. The Nanjing Youth Olympic Museum illuminated the city’s skyline, setting off a wave of youthful energy.
Haiyang, the host city of the 3rd Asian Beach Games, was selected for the 8th time as a regional venue for Olympic Day activities. At the event site, mass sports demonstrations and football matches were held simultaneously. In Sangzhi County, more than 500 representatives from government departments, healthcare institutions, businesses, schools, and sports organizations took part in the Olympic Fun Run, starting from the Red Second Front Army Long March Memorial Hall and finishing at Marshal He Long’s Former Residence. The 3.8-kilometer route symbolized the integration of sports and revolutionary culture.
In addition to in-person events, the Chinese Olympic Committee also organized an online campaign — the “Let’s Move Together: Vitality Challenge” — from June 1 to 23. Over 20 outstanding athletes participated in the campaign, encouraging online users to actively engage in physical exercise and promote the Olympic spirit.
